THE SAILOR YOU PROMISED TO BE
In those mighty books I've read,
the urge to travel is often delivered,
In those mighty books that I've read...
great men speak of their adventures and
their discoveries till then not said.
I silently wondered if it were all true,
if someone would make me feel all that too!
As days passed by, i took a stroll,
along the beaches on the sand,
every grain of sand told me a story,
that once they had travelled deep into the sea,
and saw more than what great men often said.
and that they've seen more than what I've read.
while i chuckled and said,
what makes them great is their patience,
and the mere fact that they waited,
and i shall wait until i make it...
i watched the sunset and then i walked away,
for i knew tomorrow was just another day.
i marked the counting days on stone,
waited until the day u came,
i saw u walk on friendly sand,
you smiled at me and told me tales,
and lives beyond the clouds i see,
and that u called it horizon,
thus unleashing the urge in me.
you promised me that you'll take me too,
To the great lands that i dreamt all through,
You said you'll stand by me,
i remember ...oh! i heard u say,
"you'll be there for me,come what may"
You promised to teach me how to sail,
and caution me if i fail.
Then came the day i feared the most,
i saw your ship it sailed away,
i tried to touch the water again,
i was still on sand and you were far away,
i ran to u and cried of help,
and sat on the sand and watched you sail.
Then i remembered what great men said,
"let not your dreams deceive you all",
for now i knew man only lived in a unwaged way,
while all of us come just to go away.
while i shed a silent tear , i could watch u move far away,
i saw the sands, knew what they said,
"it all Begin's whilst the ending anyway".
but now i have more to say....
My sailor don't you leave me again,
it's too painful to watch u leave,
be the sailor you promised to be,
don't know to me when u want to go away.
cause one day like the friendly sand,
that travelled beyond the horizon,
and seen every brook and bay,
you will also come back and rest here anyway.
In spite of all that you did to me,
though my eyes forever would search for thee,
trust the mighty ocean, trust in me,
i love my dreams and i love thee.
And i love the sailor you promised to be.
I wish you "Bon voyage".
